Prairie Adventure, Chapter Six

After a few days, Peter's buffalo skin was ready to be made into leather. Peter hung it on a stick and pulled it so that it wouldn't go all stiff. Then he cut it into pieces so that he could make moccasins (leather shoes) and water sacks.

Prairie Adventure, Chapter Five

A fter finding out that he was lost, Peter thought about what chance he had of surviving. All he had was a revolver with six bullets in it, a hunting knife, a pronghorn, a puma, a coyote and a dead buffalo. He skinned the buffalo, and then made a frame out of sticks that he stretched the hide and scraped the fat off it. Then he rubbed salt into it and put it in a pond nearby. Then he tried to start a fire to cook the meat. He gathered lots of wood from a nearby forest, and then tried to light a fire. He didn't have any matches, so he got a short branch and scraped the wood for a w hile, until it caught on fire (some tribes in Indonesia do that to start fires). Then he cooked the meat.

Prairie Adventure, Chapter Four

Peter was riding Dash, with Copper and Wolf, and stopped to rest. He didn't have any meat, so when he saw a buffalo stampede he chased them on Dash and shot one with his revolver. When the dust from the stampede cleared, Peter looked around and realised that he was lost.

Prairie Adventure, Chapter Three

Peter was going hunting with Wolf, when he saw a large puma. He lassoed it and brought it home. Peter fed it, and it eventualy became tame. Peter calle d him Copper.                                                                                  Puma

Prairie Adventure, Chapter Two

Peter was making a new house for himself, as his old one was made out of elk skin and was torn in a few places. First he dug a circle of small holes in the ground; then he put a few long maple branches in the holes. Finaly, he covered the sticks with buffalo leather and tied it to the posts with strips of bear hide.
