Australian Adventure, Chapter Three

 Chapter Three

At about nine o-clock Thomas herded his bantengs out into a forest near where he lived. They started to eat the leaves of the eucalyptus and scribble-gum trees (all trees that live only in Australia are called gum trees, and scribble-gum trees are called that because the inside of the bark (part that touches the wood) looks like somebody scribbled on it). At about eleven o-clock a dingo suddenly sprang out from behind a tree. Thomas shot his gun into the air and scared it away. A few hours later he herded his bantengs back home.

Galapagos Adventure, Introduction

Peter was going on a trip to the Galapagos islands (a group of islands about 2,600 miles away from America, famous for having many animals on it that only live there, such as the Galapagos tortoise and the Marine iguana). One night, he woke up in the midde of a storm, with his boat sinking! The boat didn't have any lifeboats, so Peter grabbed a gun, bullets, gunpowder and a bag of corn, threw a barrel overboard, dived in after it, and swam to one of the Galapagos islands that was nearby, resting on the barrel when he was tired. Unluckily, it was uninhabited (nobody lived on it), but he at least survived the storm. Two and a half years later, he lived in a large cave, had a pet Galapagos hawk (a large, brown hawk breed. The main predator of the Galapagos islands) called Flyer and owned a large cornfield. Galapagos Hawk

Going Sailing

Last holiday my family & I went sailing. First we got on a small boat, and then sailed to a bigger one, which we sailed on for about an hour. I got a weird feeling that I sometimes get on airplanes when the boat went over the waves. I hope we go again sometime!
