Fire! + Animal Collecting, Africa, Chapter Six

On Sunday there was a big fire. One of the cars at a friend of dad's car workshop caught on fire and burnt. Luckily, no one was hurt and dad's friend doesn't have to pay for it, as it wasn't his fault, and he can't afford it.

John heard one of their hired men running towards him. He stopped next to him and told him that there was a zebra herd nearby and that he had spotted a black zebra with white legs and neck. John knew at once that it was a rare pseud-melanistic zebra (melanisticism is when there's too much pigment in there body, and melanistic animals appear black: pseud-melanisticism is when some kind of animal has bigger and closer together spots or stripes, making it look like it is black with stripes of a different color, although it's actually the opposite: shadow the black tiger from "The Adventures of the Creature Club", one of the stories that I wrote is pseud-melanistic), and told his father, who still couldn't help them because of his accident and Jack, who rushed out to capture it, bringing with him a syringe gun (I told you about them in chapter two) and a truck with a zebra cage in it.

  1. I am so sorry to hear about the fire. I am glad no one was hurt. Fires are awful!

I have never heard of a pseud-melanistic zebra. Never! Thanks for your great stories and wonderful information about animals. I learn a lot from you!

Galapagos Adventure, Introduction

Peter was going on a trip to the Galapagos islands (a group of islands about 2,600 miles away from America, famous for having many animals on it that only live there, such as the Galapagos tortoise and the Marine iguana). One night, he woke up in the midde of a storm, with his boat sinking! The boat didn't have any lifeboats, so Peter grabbed a gun, bullets, gunpowder and a bag of corn, threw a barrel overboard, dived in after it, and swam to one of the Galapagos islands that was nearby, resting on the barrel when he was tired. Unluckily, it was uninhabited (nobody lived on it), but he at least survived the storm. Two and a half years later, he lived in a large cave, had a pet Galapagos hawk (a large, brown hawk breed. The main predator of the Galapagos islands) called Flyer and owned a large cornfield. Galapagos Hawk

Going Sailing

Last holiday my family & I went sailing. First we got on a small boat, and then sailed to a bigger one, which we sailed on for about an hour. I got a weird feeling that I sometimes get on airplanes when the boat went over the waves. I hope we go again sometime!
