After finding out that he was lost, Peter thought about what chance he had of surviving. All he had was a revolver with six bullets in it, a hunting knife, a pronghorn, a puma, a coyote and a dead buffalo. He skinned the buffalo, and then made a frame out of sticks that he stretched the hide and scraped the fat off it. Then he rubbed salt into it and put it in a pond nearby. Then he tried to start a fire to cook the meat. He gathered lots of wood from a nearby forest, and then tried to light a fire. He didn't have any matches, so he got a short branch and scraped the wood for a while, until it caught on fire (some tribes in Indonesia do that to start fires). Then he cooked the meat.
Peter was going on a trip to the Galapagos islands (a group of islands about 2,600 miles away from America, famous for having many animals on it that only live there, such as the Galapagos tortoise and the Marine iguana). One night, he woke up in the midde of a storm, with his boat sinking! The boat didn't have any lifeboats, so Peter grabbed a gun, bullets, gunpowder and a bag of corn, threw a barrel overboard, dived in after it, and swam to one of the Galapagos islands that was nearby, resting on the barrel when he was tired. Unluckily, it was uninhabited (nobody lived on it), but he at least survived the storm. Two and a half years later, he lived in a large cave, had a pet Galapagos hawk (a large, brown hawk breed. The main predator of the Galapagos islands) called Flyer and owned a large cornfield. Galapagos Hawk
Wow! I didn't know that tribes in Indonesia do that! Anyway, one question Yan.... If he had so much food, then why was he worried? Was it because he couldn't cook it? And he had a revolver and a hunting knife, so why was he worried?
ReplyDeleteHe should of made smoke signals....
You can only make smoke signals with a blanket. Is this Mom or Hope, by the way.
DeletePlus he only had six bullets, and with a hunting knife you have to get really close to an animal to kill it.
DeleteWhat a great story!! Peter sounds very resourceful! Skinning a buffalo must have taken a long time. Good for him for being persistent with making a fire!
ReplyDeleteIs anybody going to read Chapter four? It says nobody has.
